Activity: Human PDGF-BB is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED(50) was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BALB/c 3T3 cells (PNAS 94,10205,1997) is 1x 10(E6) units/mg.
Formulation: Lyophilized from a 0.2 mm filtered solution in 20 m M sodium acetate in absence of any carrier protein.
PDGF, as a pharmaceutical/cosmetic raw material, can be used in Skin Remodeling (Skin Ulcer Healing). Also PDGF can cause skin cells to live longer (FDA Approval for Stretch Mark and Scar Removal). The use of hyaluronic acid together with Colony Stimulating Factor (CSF) or PDGF for accelerating wound healing has also been described in the literature (Zymogenetics, U. S. Pat. No.5,128,321,1992) PDGF is the active ingredient in becaplermin, a FDA approved product to treat deep diabetic foot and leg ulcers.
